Brief walks

I am currently working with a health coach, Venus Gilley, MS, RD, LD, through my workplace.  She has encouraged me to take two brief walks a day to jump start a walking regimen.  I am lucky in that I am encouraged by co-workers who fully support my taking 7 minutes, twice a day to walk to the end of the building.  I walk south in the morning and breathe fresh air out the door then I walk north in the afternoon and breath fresh air out that door.  It refreshes me and gets me up and walking.  I am so out of shape and things ache that I breathe hard on these flat walks. Embarrassing-MOST DEFINITELY!!!  But I’m up and moving at least five days a week and that is helping.  I’m slowly noticing a change in my body aches and a minute amount in my breathing.  I’m in the middle of week three.  I’m encouraged.

A blog, me…peshaw you say. Crazy idea! Ludicrous! Really, insane! But why the hell not. Lots of things going on in my life…educationally, professionally, emotionally, health-wise. Why not share my experiences with others. We all go around this big blue ball once (or maybe two or three times if we don’t get it right the first time). So why not learn from each other.

I love to try new recipes. I enjoy knitting and crocheting. We’ve “adopted” a 20 year old young man who needs a helping hand and a warm, safe place to be. I work full-time. I go to graduate school part-time and am four classes away from finishing my degree. I run a household that includes a full-time retired mother-in-law, two part-time teenagers (10 1/2 weeks in the summer), and a domestic partner that works full-time and goes to graduate school full-time. We have a crazy life but a mostly happy life. We make it work…one day at a time.
